We teach piano lessons differently!

Children are grouped by age and learn together.

Each student has a keyboard.

We meet for 45 minutes in groups of 4-6 students.

Each student can learn at their own pace while also playing with the group.

Group piano builds musical knowledge and awareness at an accelerated pace.

Students in a group setting will be energized by their peers.
Our Classes
Red Notes
Ages 5-6 (Kindergarten)
Our Red Notes classes focus on learning keyboard geography, keeping a steady rhythm, following directions, and singing to match pitch. The students will use Pyramid Explorers Primer B book.
Purple Notes
Ages 7-8 (Second Grade)
(The 2025-26 school year will also include 6 year olds who are in 1st Grade.)
Children in Purple Notes are reviewing keyboard geography and beginning to read notes. We will focus on learning to use all five fingers on both hands, following directions, and beginning to be more independent at the keyboard. This class uses Pyramid Explorers Primer D.
Forte & Fortissimo
Ages 8+ (Third Grade and up)
Teen/Pre-teen
Forte is for students ages 8+, and Fortissimo is our Teen/Pre-teen class. Students in both classes learn at their own pace while also playing with the whole group, which is at multiple levels. We use Piano Pyramid curriculum which is written in 5 levels, beginners to intermediate. Students can move up to the next level whenever they are ready and stay in the same class.
New! Adult Fortissimo
Adult or High School Students of all all levels are welcome to join this class, from complete beginners to intermediate. The focus is on the joy of playing piano and making music together. Students will be able to learn at their own pace while making music with the ensemble. We will learn scales, theory, and various styles of music pieces.

Hello! I have been teaching piano lessons for over 20 years at my studio in Novato. I enjoy getting to know my students' unique personalities and seeing their faces light up when they learn something new! ​

I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education/Music Therapy from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. I love to play music with others in my church, community, and family.
